A taste of Boodle feast!

I’ve always wanted to experience a boodle feast or fight for a very long time. I’ve seen a lot of photos on social media and television food networks showing what a gastronomical experience this type of Filipino dining is, where food favourites are served on a wide-green banana-leaf platter and eaten with bare hands. So I contacted my friends whilst back in the Philippines, to see if they would like to have a get together and catch up over a boodle night, everyone liked the idea, so bring on the food war!

Hughzies Lakeside Brasserie

A good way to break a long drive if you’re heading to the Hunter Valley and beyond is a sumptuous feed at Hughzies Lakeside Brasserie in Toronto, less than 2 hours’ drive north of Sydney. This restaurant is perched along the waterfront with several other eateries on the popular Brighton Avenue.

We visited this place for a dinner and our assigned table was by the window, with lots of natural evening light that poured in giving the space a bright and airy feel.

Dining on board the Explorer of the Seas!

Dining on board the Explorer of the Seas means an endless array of food choices, from complementary a la carte dining, specialty restaurants, buffet style meals and snacks, a classic burger joint and of course, room service.

Since our cruise was a short one, dining themes and attire were mostly casual, although dressing to impress is always an option.

Little Lily’s Wine and Tapas Cafe

Little Lily’s Wine and Tapas Cafe is tucked away in the beach side suburb of Little Bay in the Eastern suburbs. It is located on the ground floor of a modern complex which is part of the new Prince Henry Estate. A brain child between husband and wife, Jorke and Bronagh, who conceptualised the idea of providing a watering hole for locals and visitors, a place for catching up, laughs, coffee, drinks and good food.

Sik Gaek Korean BBQ

Sik Gaek Korean BBQ Restaurant is nestled along Clissold Parade in Campsie and it’s part of the Dae Jang Kum group of restaurants with branches in Chinatown in the City and Eastwood in the North-West suburbs. This modern family bbq restaurant offers authentic Korean fare including the traditional Gogigui, a roasting method where the meat is prepared at the diner’s table on charcoal grills that are built into the table itself.
