Holiday and Caravan Park is ideal for your next short break or extended stay

Now that travel restrictions are slowly easing in New South Wales and other states, the travel industry is emerging back from the dry spell since March of this year. Truly the Covid-19 has devastated the travel, hospitality and other sectors that rely on tourism. Bargain rates and other perks are currently being offered to lure back tourists to these once busy destinations.
We came across a really good last minute deal which was hard to pass, so we packed our bags with the new normal travel accessories, like masks, alcoholic wipes and hand sanitiser. South Coast of New South Wales here we come!

It’s spring time here, so the combination of warm days and cool nights is a perfect balance to venture out. Blooms in the country side along with hills of new grass and colours are a prelude to what to expect in the coming months.
The bargain deal was offered by Discovery Parks Gerroa Holiday and Caravan Park in South Coast through Wotif Australia which offers a further 10% off – mates rate. For the record, we have stayed here before and we really like this caravan park. It’s a pleasant property nestled in a rural setting very close to the Crooked River and Seven Mile Beach. It has a swimming pool, bbq and picnic area, laundry and gardens.

We arrived at the property around 3:00 pm and checked-in contactless. All instructions and a pin code for the key was sent via sms the day before our arrival. After we collected our room key from a the safe box, we filled in the mandatory health check declaration forms then headed to our cabin.

Our accommodation was one of the standard 2 bedroom cabins that sleeps 6 people (see feature image). A double bed in one room and 4 bunk beds in the other room. Plenty of light, each room has its own built in wardrobe.

With total of 42 square meters, the cabin has plenty of room to move around. The verandah has a table, chairs and an ashtray. It’s a lovely area of the cabin to watch the sunset with afternoon drinks.

Toilet is functional with a good overhead shower, basin and mirror.

A sofa good for two persons along with dining table and 4 rattan chairs make up the lounge area.

Kitchen has all the essentials, microwave, pots, frying pans, kettle, plates, forks, spoons, knives, chopping board, wine glasses, and washing detergents. Television and reverse-cycle air conditioning are both wall mounted. The fridge has spacious freezer and food compartments. It really is your home away from home.

There are different types of accommodation on offer; fully furnished motel style rooms with kitchenette, deluxe two bedroom cabin, 2 bedroom deluxe spa cabin, 2 bedroom access cabin, superior 2 bedroom cabin, standard 2 bedroom cabin, powered and unpowered sites for those who prefer camping, the choice is yours.

Outdoor activities like a playground for the kids to keep them busy and a BBQ area with two hot plates to sizzle up those snags!

Like a lot of caravan parks we have stayed at across Australia, this one has become home to many a retired caravan that have turned their last wheel, morphing into new shapes as they get added to over time. Some parks have resident buses that have made their final stop. It makes for an interesting walk around these parks, spotting gems from a golden age!

Yes, it’s a home away from home feel and relatively cheaper for a group accommodation.
