Tayim a Middle Eastern Oasis in The Rocks

The historic and charming narrow sandstone-lined Nurses Walk in The Rocks is buzzing right now with the opening of Tayim, a new restaurant offering modern and traditional Middle Eastern fare. We had the opportunity to attend the media launch party of Tayim last week.

A lot of options here to enjoy a sumptuous dining experience. Whether you sit inside, on the al fresco balcony, drink at the bar, private room or watch the world go by at the shisha area, an open space surrounded by lush green walls, this place has got you covered.

Located on the ground floor of the Harbour Rocks Hotel previously occupied by Scarlett restaurant. The dramatic transformation features restoration of the sandstone walls, contemporary furnishing and effective lighting. It’s a warm, inviting ambience with a relaxed atmosphere.
Guests at the launch were treated with Middle Eastern tradition of mezze—lots of little bites then followed by delectable canapés and the bar whipped up refreshing cocktails to kick off the night along with select beer and wine. At the helm is Chef Ran Kimelfeld (ex Nour), showcasing an inspired Middle Eastern menu from the region’s most flavoursome dishes; focusing on bold, exotic share plates cooked using traditional methods on the open grill. Signatures include, grilled sardine Shakshuka, summer mushroom Borekas and grilled chicken Mashan. Blending locally sourced produce with fruits, herbs and spices sourced from the transcontinental region. The menu features revived adaptations of time honoured dishes, such as roasted figs paired with radicchio, goats’ cheese and chardonnay dressing, and semolina rose pudding accompanied by pistachio meringue and summer berries.

Tayim’s wine and cocktail offering has been developed by GM Reuvin Lim and his team. Carefully curated to compliment the spice and earthiness of Chef Ran’s menu.
Tayim is also home to sister-venue Tayim Deli. Adjacent to the restaurant, Tayim Deli serves breakfast and lunch to the passing trade of office workers, locals and tourists. The take away menu features chicken shish and lamb kofta, along with fresh salads and accoutrements including Israeli couscous, roasted cauliflower and chargrilled broccolini,
