Cabra-Vale Diggers in the South West Suburbs of Sydney has created a real buzz with the opening of dining precinct District 8, the newest and most exciting phase of the multi-million dollar redevelopment, one of the most progressive and ambitious projects to date for the club, which has enjoyed 93 years of heritage.
Located in Canley Vale, 30 kilometres from Sydney’s CBD, District 8 boasts a food paradise with cultural delicacies from several South East Asian countries namely; Vietnam, China, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. The smell, feel and authentic taste of food on offer makes your palatable journey to Asia at your finger tips leaving your passport behind.
A six month plus build with construction company Rohrig at the helm (as they were for Brasserie On The Park and Poppy Cafe), and Altis Architecture in charge of the incredibly detailed interior design. Stepping inside this dining precinct immediately captivates your senses with the beautifully designed and avant-garde space. Over 5500 leaves of timber, painted red are suspended from the ceiling along one of the main walkways, creating a feature route through the space. The flow around the precinct gives different schemes from open dining areas to a lavishly decorated private room for functions or private dining. The painted murals along with the hanging bird cages are simply imposing. There are nine large seafood tanks for those who want fish dishes cooked to order. Try counting how many lucky cats, ‘Maneko-neko’ there are displayed on the glass shelves while waiting for your order.
You’ll find here 8 different stations serving all your favourite Asian dishes such as Dumplings, Congee, Soups, BBQ, Noodles, Fruit Juices, Salads, Grill, Stir Fry, Seafood, and much, much, more! You can also enjoy freshly baked breads and patisseries from the Asian Bakery and a drink for one or two from the Bar, just about everyone’s favourite choices are all covered here.
At the official media launch last Tuesday, guests were given the chance to sample some of the delicious offerings. Everyone enjoyed canapés of Thai papaya salad, bun with pork belly with kimchi, a shot of watermelon juice, chicken satay, baked sticky rice, dumplings, washed down by wonderful choice of wine, beer and juices.
Television renowned presenter, author, media personality, and Master Chef winner Adam Liaw is the face of District 8, and with his heritage, and vast knowledge as a recipe developer, social media communicator, and his genuine affinity with Asian food and culture, you have the perfect recipe in District 8.
