Reserve Wine Bar – Newcastle

Fancy a late night drink in Newcastle?
After a big dinner catch up with our friends in Newcastle, we strolled around the historic Hunter St, one of the main streets in the CBD, scouring for a late-night venue for a tipple.
We came across the Reserve Wine Bar, a former bank building converted into a luxurious space and retaining many of its original features. The awe inspiring bottles mounted on the wall by the bar, which are back-lit, provides a wall of incandescent green that frames the solid old Vault door, is an incredible sight. The subtle lighting in the rest of the bar brings to life the reflections of this vintage space, where more empty bottles are on display and hanging from the ceiling, while the background music relaxes everyone’s mood at this late hour.
The wine menu is extensive with Australian and International makers to choose from. The food menu consist of Daily Specials, snacks, charcuterie, various sides, large share plates and desserts, also on offer is the Six Course Chefs Selection, for $65 per person. Unfortunately the kitchen had already closed when we got there, but we can’t wait to go back to try their sumptuous offerings on our next visit to Newcastle.

London Calling
Cocktails are plentiful! The London Calling is a mixture of London Dry Gin, fresh lemon juice, sugar, Fino Sherry, Orange Bitter and grapefruit-peel garnish. This drink has it all, delicious, fresh, nutty and fruity, taking my taste buds on a trip to Old London Town. Our beer selection was the Modus Operandi Red IPA, and at over 7%, its a beer that demands respectful handling!
Check out the happy hour Cocktail list, prices from $10 – $16 and may change from time to time.
